In the top of the ninth inning in Minnesota, Alex Rodriguez smashes a home run to propel his New York Yankees to the 8-5 victory.

C.C. Sabathia couldn’t keep his solid pitching rolling on Saturday night. By the end of the third inning, the Minnesota Twins had plated five runs on the 35-year old lefty.

But alas, Alex Rodriguez came to save the day.

A-Rod blasted three home runs for a total of four runs batted in on the night in helping propel the New York Yankees to an 8-5 victory.

The other hero for the Yanks came from behind the plate, and no, it wasn’t Brian McCann.

With the game knotted up at five-all in the top of the ninth, John Ryan Murphy walked up to the plate with two men on and one out. He decided to hit a three run shot off Twins closer Glen Perkins to give the Yanks a lead Andrew Miller wouldn’t relinquish.
