The hot stove is sizzling as sources reveal the details behind Gerrit Cole’s potential offer from the New York Yankees.

The entire baseball world is waiting with bated breath to see where ace Gerrit Cole will wind up. It seems the New York Yankees aren’t holding anything back in their pursuit of the Houston Astro who dominated them this postseason.

According to Bob Klapisch of the New York Times, the Yankees have put together a record-breaking offer to have Cole join them in the Bronx.

As previously reported, Gerrit Cole was searching for something along the west coast but that rumor was quickly debunked when it was determined that there was no bias toward a certain coast.

Cole is by far the most attractive free agent on the market in terms of starting pitching this offseason. Cole spent his first five seasons in Pittsburgh and redefined his game when he made the jump to Houston, going a combined 35-10 in his two seasons.

2019 marked his lowest year in terms of ERA (2.50) and strikeouts (326). Plus, his postseason stats were nothing to sneeze at. He went at least seven innings in each of his five starts in the 2019 postseason.

The Yankees are desperate for an ace, something that’s been missing for several years in the Bronx. One of their key needs is to stretch out their starters to give their bullpen a rest prior to postseason play.

Gerrit Cole is a No. 1 priority for this offseason and the New York Yankees are making it very clear that they’re not messing around.

Stay tuned as more news emerges regarding this offseason and get aboard the Cole train. It’s clear the Yankees are already there.
