The New York Mets true No. 1 ace, Jacob deGrom, came up huge on Friday night in a well-deserved victory in Pittsburgh.

With much of the team, especially the arms on the shelf, the New York Mets true ace, Jacob deGrom, came to the rescue.

In Pittsburgh, he hurled a gem, surrendering just one run on six hits while striking out 10. He also went into the ninth-inning (8.1 IP), relieving Terry Collins‘ distressed and below-average bullpen from a night’s work.

Batting cleanup, Neil Walker smacked two home runs while collecting four runs batted in. New York took home the convincing 8-1 victory in Pittsburgh, the first of a three-game slate.
