The New York Knicks might have found where to send Carmelo Anthony and, thanks to a recent report, it’s the Boston Celtics.

The New York Knicks desperately want to get rid of Carmelo Anthony and the Boston Celtics might be the answer.

According to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe, the Knicks are pushing to trade Anthony and they are interested in some of the Celtics players. More importantly, however, Melo would be willing to waive his no-trade clause to play in Boston.

Knicks president Phil Jackson has instructed management to trade Melo, who has a no-trade clause but would waive it for the Celtics. Melo has said that he would like to stay in New York even though the team doesn’t want him.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens would be open to coaching Anthony but president of basketball operations Danny Ainge has rejected all deals. The Celtics have told the Knicks that they aren’t interested in Melo. The Celtics could be part of a three-team trade that would send Melo to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Anthony has two years left on his contract. There is $27 million left on his contract in addition to the 15 percent trade kicker if he gets traded, according to William Lou of TheScore. He is averaging 22.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, and three assists this season.

The Knicks are 21-27 and are two games out of the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
