The Detroit Red Wings just had a major comeback in the Centennial Classic against the Toronto Maple Leafs, with a very exciting few minutes.
The Centennial Classic was off without a hitch today, and Toronto had the lead 4-1 heading into the third period against the Detroit Red Wings.Fans in Toronto had the victory in their head, but Detroit was not going to go down without swinging hard.
First, it started with a goal from Jonathan Ericsson, cutting down the lead.
To make it 4-3 was a Dylan Larkin goal right in front of the crease in a slight scrum, he got the puck in the back of the net.
To put the icing on the cake came this complete beauty from Anthony Mantha.
The goal was a very heart thumping one. In the dying minutes of the game, the Red Wings forward sent the game into overtime.
While Detroit did not get the victory in overtime, this will go down as one of the best moments in the NHL’s outdoor legacy and a great way to kick off 2017.
