UFC star Conor McGregor made the next step towards a potential fight with Floyd Mayweather by acquiring a boxing license for the state of California.

There is no doubt that the tension between Conor McGregor and Floyd “Money” Mayweather is at an all-time high. Floyd has stated that he does not want to be compared to the UFC star because he takes it as an insult.

The interest in a fight between the two is certainly mutual, but McGregor has a hefty price tag attached to it. He refuses to compete in the bout unless he gets at least $100 million, which are needs that haven’t been guaranteed thus far.

With today’s announcement, Conor McGregor is now legally allowed to compete in a boxing event for the state of California, leaving the mouths of fans salivating at the thought of a potential fight.

However, the state of Nevada did decline McGregor’s application for a boxing license for their state. So if the two sides do reach a deal for the bout, it will not be on the Las Vegas strip.

2017 may be the year the world witnesses once of the biggest events in history, McGregor vs. Mayweather, but as of now that could only legally happen in the state of California.
