On a night the New York Mets are taking the Fish to the woodshed, these Amazin’ players also showcased a great deed in the stands.

The score is currently sitting at 12-1 in favor of the New York Mets as they take on the very still emotional Miami Marlins in South Beach on Tuesday night.

Everything is going right. Jay Bruce has even homered.

The only thing fans can get on Bruce for is nailing his kid (a Mets fan, no less) in the arm with a foul ball. However, the Amazins did their best to soothe the kid’s arm.

SNY’s Steve Gelbs had the story in the 9th-inning of the telecast.

Injured second baseman Neil Walker started the rally. He requested the ball from the boy’s father and signed it. He also had many of his teammates sign it (Curtis Granderson, etc.) and sent a bat the little fan’s way as well.

Now that’s what we’re talking about when it comes to getting it done on the field and in the stands.
