Looking for the series sweep against the Minnesota Twins, the New York Mets receive a huge boost from spot starter Gabriel Ynoa.

At this point, Terry Collins can welcome anybody to the clubhouse and expect production. It’s getting that silly for the New York Mets.

Out of the picture are the likes of Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, Steven Matz, David Wright, and Neil Walker, and in are T.J. Rivera, Robert Gsellman, Seth Lugo, and now, Gabriel Ynoa.

Ynoa, the 23-year-old righty out of the Dominican Republic, received the spot start on Sunday thanks to deGrom’s latest setback that will now have him out for the season. Ynoa also provided his manager with eight strikeouts over 4.2 innings pitched.

He was unable to secure that 15th out in finishing the 5th-inning and potentially coming away with a win, but the effort was solid nonetheless.

Michael Conforto has driven in two on the day. The Mets currently lead the Twinkies 3-1.
