Early on with the New York Mets hosting the Minnesota Twins, catcher Kevin Plawecki was victimized by the “gum on hat” routine.

This is a tough one, folks, and quite frankly, I don’t know if we’ll crack the case.

Early on in the first game of an extended homestand for the New York Mets (against the Minnesota Twins), fans were watching Bartolo Colon not only pitch but make underrated throws to second en route to starting double plays.

Kevin Plawecki was one of many who was innocently witnessing Big Sexy do his thing. Plawecki was also an innocent victim of a classic dugout crime.

Check out the video above. Somebody, and we’re not quite sure who, yet, pulled the old “gum on hat” prank to the Mets third catcher.

Gary Cohen and the fine folks at SNY pointed this out. Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard surely knew about it, but were either of the two the culprit?

My money’s on Thor, if only because he was behind Plawecki when the great revelation of the prank came to light.

In any event, well done.

Oh, by the way … Jay Bruce walked during the at bat.
