Energetic New York Mets youngster Brandon Nimmo tallies his first Major League Baseball hit against Joe Ross in Washington D.C. on Monday.

In his fifth career Major League Baseball at bat, New York Mets rookie Brandon Nimmo has done it.

He’s done the thing every little boy dreams of doing while playing in the backyard of his childhood home.

No, he didn’t smack a walk-off grand slam to win the World Series. That’s something that’ll come later. His accomplishment this time around happened to be collecting his first big league hit.

It came against Joe Ross of the Washington Nationals (video above).

Two batters later Nimmo added to his young career by scoring on a Curtis Granderson single to right field – two for the price of one in this series opening game on Monday night.

The Mets currently lead the division leading Nats 2-0 with Noah Syndergaard pitching in the bottom of the second.
