Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz recently stated he wouldn’t watch the Patriots if Tom Brady was suspended. That is utter trash from Big Papi.
Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz recently made some interesting comments regarding the incident known as Deflate-Gate.According to Sports Illustrated’s Andy Gray, Ortiz had this to say in relation to New England Patriots and Tom Brady:
“I think it’s stupid, to be honest with you. Put it this way: You’re talking about the one player that everybody wants to watch play. We’re not just talking about any player. We’re talking about [Brady]. If I turn on the TV on Sunday to watch a Patriots game and I know that [Brady] is not playing, I would turn off the TV. I don’t want to watch that game.”
So, according to that lovable Big Papi, fans shouldn’t watch the Patriots if Brady is suspended? And because Brady is who most everybody cares about, that he only matters.
Well Papi, you sir are ridiculous.
What you’re basically saying is Sox fans should start tuning out to the Red Sox in 2017 once your retired. I mean, let’s be honest here: You’re the one Boston player everybody cares about, so why should Sox fans continue to watch next season?
Obviously Papi was looking to back another Boston athlete, but come on now, let’s not be stupid and cross lines here.
This is such a careless article. I feel Papi's frustration as I won't be watching either, out of principle. My boycott won't be a lack of support for the Patriots. Instead, I am boycotting the NFL altogether until they make things right. This is not about a single player. It's about how the commissioner can act as judge, jury, and executioner without having solid facts. Probability is not a solid fact. So I'm with you Papi. Maybe we can hang out if you're not too busy in your retirement and watch tennis or badminton on Sundays instead.
