On a night New York Mets’ Matt Harvey was looking to get back on track, The Dark Knight got absolutely bombed by the Washington Nationals.
Folks, it doesn’t get much worse than this.
The Dark Knight is simply a man with no answers.
With the New York Mets hosting the NL East leading Washington Nationals in the rubber-game of a three-game set, Matt Harvey took the mound in great anticipation of finding his way. Perhaps the stage of squaring off against the Mets’ biggest rivals would spark Harvey.
I’m afraid not.
Harvey’s night ended in total disaster. As he left the mound after just 2.2 innings – the shortest outing of his career – a chorus of boos reigned down upon him.
Here’s the horrid line for a player whose face represented such an important turnaround point for a franchise a few seasons ago:
- 2.2 IP, 8 H, 9 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 HR
Harvey’s ERA through nine starts in 2016 is now a whopping 5.77.
To be fair, New York’s defense didn’t do their righty any favors. Asdrubal Cabrera had a chance to execute an inning-ending double play, prior to the seven run 3rd-inning from starting, but came up with an costly error.
In any event, Harvey is lost. It’s clear there are huge problems in Flushing for The Dark Knight.
The Nats currently hold a 9-1 lead in the top of the 4th-inning.
