With Thor on the mound, expect the New York Mets to bring the hammer down against the Kansas City Royals in Missouri.

  • Kansas City Royals (1-0)

That loss on Sunday was brutal.

Thankfully it’s over. We move on.

On to today, with the Mets’ 23-year-old rising star Noah Syndergaard will trot to the mound looking for a little retribution.

Or, wait… aren’t the Royals looking for retribution?

Who knows these days.

Regardless, two baseball teams will play today, after an odd early day-off. One will partake in another day of World Series title celebrations while the other looks on because today is Ring Day for the Royals.

Royals are sending out ex-Met and current giant Chris Young (he’s 6′ 10″) to the mound. He’s seemingly the complete opposite of Syndergaard, with a more methodical, Bartolo-like approach.

On the other hand, Syndergaard slings his pitches to plate at blazing speeds, the fastest in baseball, throwing his four-seam fastball at a 97.4 mph average last season. Then, out of nowhere, he’ll knock you down with a slow-breaking curve-ball. The righty boasted a 2.06 ERA in 20 Grapefruit League innings.

Alejandro De Aza will make his first start as a Met, replacing Juan Lagares in center field, with rookie Michael Conforto as the DH, yet again.

Classic Terry Collins, loading up with the lefty bats against right-handed pitchers.

Game on.
