Washington Capitals captain and superstar sniper Alexander Ovechkin becomes the first Russian-born player to tally 500 career goals.

With the Caps up 4-1 in the second period, it was classic OV from the right face-off circle, ripping it past the Hamburglar, Andrew Hammond.
Ovechkin, the fifth-fastest player to reach the mark, is now tied for 42nd all-time on the NHL goal scoring list with Lanny McDonald.
Ovechkin has been a superstar since entering the league in 2005. He’s buried at least 50 goals in a season six times, and at least 40 seven times.
Remember, he lost half a season in 2012-13 due to the NHL lockout, and he still put up 32 goals through 48 games.
There’s no stopping the Great 8.
