The Toronto Blue Jays are back in the postseason and their fanbase has much to celebrate.
By Bryan Pol
On Saturday, the Toronto Blue Jays’ Twitter account, hashtag and all (#ComeTogether), released a hype video, getting their playoff hungry fanbase jived and ready for a postseason run two decades in the making.
General manager Alex Anthopoulos went all-in prior to the trade deadline for Toronto, acquiring superstar shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, ace and Cy Young hopeful David Price, and speedster Ben Revere, all of whom helped the Jays shed a 7 1/2 deficit in the division to overcome the New York Yankees and overtake the AL East.
In supplementing moves that already made the Jays competitive, from trading for AL MVP favorite Josh Donaldson to acquiring catcher Russell Martin in the offseason, Anthopoulos has put Toronto on the fast track toward not only making the playoffs, but also winning it all: teams with gargantuan run differentials such as Toronto’s (+230) tend to go on and win the World Series. In Toronto, they are hoping they can celebrate like it’s 1993 all over again.
