Former Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur joined five others, to be immortalized on a Canadian stamp, however another NHL great got snubbed.

He, along with five other goaltending greats, would get their own postage stamps as part of a series known as 2015 NHL Great Canadian Goalies. The set would be produced by the Canada Post (equivalent to the United States Postal Service).
Brodeur joins past NHL greats Lorne “Gump” Worsley, Johnny Bower, Tony Esposito, Bernie Parent, and Ken Dryden.
What’s in common with all six?
Each has one a Stanley Cup and a Vezina Trophy, as the best goaltender in the regular season. All, but Brodeur, is in the NHL Hall of Fame. However, one omission that has not been picking up as much is the omission of another great goaltender.
I am talking about Patrick Roy.
He is a former Stanley Cup winner, Vezina Trophy recipient, and Hall of Famer. Oh, and he’s Canadian too.
So why no stamp for him?
Roy has won the Conn Smythe (the Most Valuable Player award in the NHL playoffs), named to multiple All-Star teams, had his jersey retired with two different franchises, and most winningest goalie in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Again, why no stamp for him?
This might have been the former Stanley Cup champion’s reaction when not hearing his name:
I’d venture to say that his snub from this year’s series of Canadian stamps, would not be considered a snub at all. Perhaps, the Canada Postal service already has his name included for next year’s edition.
Or, someone over there is still sore from his fallout with the Montreal Canadiens, after the famous December 5, 1995 game against the Detroit Red Wings when he gave up nine goals.
