New York Mets outfielder and complete revelation in 2015, Yoenis Cespedes, has been named the NL Player of the Week for his recent efforts.

Winners of eight straight games and 20 of their last 26, the Amazin’s can add one more notch in the old belt today. Their prized trade deadline acquisition has been named NL Player of the Week for Sep. 7-13.

Cespedes batted .345 (10-for-29) with an .897 slugging percentage last week, with four home runs and an MLB-best 12 RBIs, leading the New York Mets to seven consecutive road victories.
“The only guy I can even compare it to closely would be when Barry Bonds would get on a run,” Mets manager Terry Collins said of Cespedes’ recent stretch. “In 1994, Jeff Bagwell did kind of similar stuff. What this guy was doing on the road, every time we needed him to step up, he stepped up.”
The Cuban sensation has been so dominant that illogical discussions of Cespedes winning the NL MVP have come into play.
