Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus does his best Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez impression as he steals home against the San Diego Padres.

Something unusual and amazing happened Tuesday night. Something that brings us back to simpler times when James Earl Jones was a blind-man who possessed a dog nicknamed “The Beast.”

Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus did his best Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez impression and stole home plate during his team’s game against the San Diego Padres.

It was the top of the seventh-inning, as Padres reliever Kevin Quackenbush went into his long, deliberate stretch on the mound. Adrus, obviously well schooled on his delay, pounced early and dashed for home.

By the time Quackenbush knew what was happening, Andrus got his feet in prior to the off-line pitch heading to home plate. The straight steal of home gave the Rangers an 8-4 lead, which eventually turned into an 8-6 victory.
