Houston Astros starting pitcher Mike Fiers throws his first career no-hitter on Friday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

We’ve officially hit the point of no return as it relates to Major League Baseball being a pitching dominating landscape.

If last year’s .251 batting average wasn’t enough evidence (the lowest since the 1972 season of .244), just look at how many no-hitters are being thrown.

On Friday night another was added to the list.

Houston Astros righty Mike Fiers – recently acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers – no-hit the Los Angeles Dodgers. Prior to tonight, Fiers hadn’t even thrown a complete game in his MLB career. He walked three, struck out 10 in an incredible 134 pitches.

Via MLB:

“This crowd was going insane and it got me pumped up,” Fiers said. “Man, I felt like I was in the first inning. I felt great, probably better than the first inning honestly.”

Fiers closed out the game by getting Justin Turner to strike out for Houston’s 11th no-hitter in franchise history.
