The Delmarva Shorebirds – the Baltimore Orioles Single-A affiliate – lose because one of their players doesn’t step on home plate after HR.

Of course there’s the walk-off home run. This situation is most painful because it means the road team has lost. We also have further pain in the walk-off walk (the pain of which doesn’t need to be explained at all).
However, the Delmarva Shorebirds (the Single-A affiliate for the Baltimore Orioles) decided to throw a new wrinkle into painful losses.
Check out Shorebirds hitter Elier Leyva. He hit what everybody thought was the go-ahead home run in the top of the ninth inning against the Augusta Greenjackets (San Francisco Giants affiliate).
Instead, though, Leyva missed touching home plate while celebrating with a teammate. The Greenjackets protested the play and the two teams went to extra innings where the Greenjackets eventually won in the 10th.
Brutal.
