Friday night followed a familiar script fans of the New York Mets have engrained in their heads. Noah Syndergaard pitched brilliantly, yet the Mets fell in defeat to the St. Louis Cardinals by the count of 3-2.

Nine-game winner Bartolo Colon (9-7, 4.46 ERA) will take the mound tonight as he opposes veteran John Lackey (7-5, 2.99 ERA).

Colon suffered through his worst start of the season against the Red Birds back on May 20 he allowed nine runs and 11 hits.

The struggling Michael Cuddyer is back in the lineup after receiving the surprising night off in the first game back from the MLB All-Star break. He’ll hit third while Daniel Murphy gets bumped to the No. 2 hole.

First pitch is slated for 7:15 pm ET.
