That was just one of the famous phrases uttered from Milwaukee Brewers voice Bob Uecker while he starred in the 1989 cult-comedy classic Major League.
His voice was the absolute perfect compliment for a group of rag-tag Cleveland Indians players who didn’t know which end was up half the time.
It’s too bad Uecker wasn’t on hand for the Tampa Bay Rays-Los Angeles Angels game on Monday night, for his comedic gifts could’ve been used.
In the top of the seventh-inning, Rays catcher Rene Rivera was on first-base. As Brandon Guyer hit a grounder to Albert Pujols at first, Rivera knew the job he had to do: breakup the double-play:
The good news for Rivera is the fact that a double play was out of the question.
The bad news was he had nothing to do with it.
Perhaps he’s onto a new strategy: hilarity and aloofness combining as a powerful distraction potion against opposing teams.
