The Chicago Cubs were handed a gift from the baseball gods today as Gregory Polanco of the Pittsburgh Pirates came up short.

The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Chicago Cubs played an afternoon game at Wrigley Field today.

Sure, there’s nothing uncommon about that. Wrigley Field is known for its day games.

However, this one turned out to be wilder than anybody of the north-siders could have imagined.

Trailing 10-5 entering the eighth-inning, the Pirates put together an epic comeback, scoring four in the eighth and as well as the game-tying run in the ninth.

Extra innings brought us to the bottom of the 12th inning where we witnessed something that happens only once a decade:
