Game 3 of the second Subway Series between the New York Yankees and Mets turned into a washout. The makeup date has arrived.

It’s a washout, folks.

As soon as the New York Mets had a rubber-game opportunity against their big-boy neighbors to the north was as quickly as that chance was snatched away.

Game 3 of the second leg of the 2018 Subway Series was officially postponed due to rain on Sunday night. The makeup date is Monday, Aug. 13, 7:05 p.m. ET right back at Yankee Stadium.

In Game 1 of the July Subway Series, the Mets stunned the world. Noah Syndergaard pitched a solid game en route to his sixth win of the campaign while Michael Conforto led the way offensively. The NL New York club almost made it two in a row on Saturday but simply couldn’t complete a ninth-inning comeback that saw them cut a 7-3 deficit to 7-6 against Aroldis Chapman.

Sunday was shaping up nicely as stud righty Jacob deGrom was ready to take on Masahiro Tanaka—a matchup that clearly favored the Amazins.

It wasn’t meant to be.

Instead, the teams will finish that sixth Subway Series game of the season on a lowly Monday in August while the New York Yankees only concern will be the Boston Red Sox and the Mets are simply worrying about youngsters progressing.
