New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton won’t be returning to the injured list after leaving Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays.

New York Yankees fans were initially given good news after Tuesday night’s scare involving Giancarlo Stanton.

In the win against the Toronto Blue Jays, Stanton left in the third inning with an apparent injury. As reported, Stanton suffered a contusion in his right knee. It was announced he would go for an MRI.

Luckily, the MRI came back clean, and manager Aaron Boone seemed confident that Stanton would not need to go on the injured list.

“[The] tests were good,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said, per Howie Kussoy of the New York Post. “There’s no swelling in there, but he’s a bit sore and stuff. He’s going through treatment right now. Nothing as far as moves or anything like that. We’re kind of seeing how the next few hours unfold, and even the next few days.”

But despite Boone’s initial optimism, Stanton was sent to the 10-day IL on Wednesday according to ESPN. The right-handed slugger won’t make the trip to London for the Yankees’ two-game series against the Boston Red Sox. Stanton will be re-evaluated in ten days.

Stanton’s season has been a disappointment so far, but it’s through no fault of his own. He just can’t seem to stay healthy. On the bright side, the rest of the Yankees are picking up the slack and the team is starting to run away with the AL East.

There’s no need to rush Stanton back as long as the rest of the lineup is producing.
