Other teams are noticing the New York Knicks interest in Michael Porter Jr., and the trade rumors are heating up.

It must be draft time because we have some trade rumors. According to Ian Begley of ESPN, some teams picking ahead of the New York Knicks in next week’s NBA draft are reaching out to gauge their interest on trading up to draft Michael Porter Jr.

The availability of Porter in the draft varies depending on which mock you’re looking at. After an injury-plagued season caused his stock to take a dramatic hit, Porter’s now rising into the top five of some mocks. He was one of the top high school recruits in the country earning comparisons to LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

The Knicks hoped that the former McDonald’s All-American would fall to them at pick No. 9. But New York is very interested in Porter. They had front office people at his private workout in Chicago, and they have a pre-draft meeting scheduled with the young swingman (via ESPN).

Of course, this is just one report out of the dozens that will come out in the days leading up to the draft. Take everything with a grain of salt. Porter could be there at nine and the odds of New York trading up are slim to none.
