On our latest episode of St. John’s B-Ball Breakdown, we talked about the west coast trip and previewed Arizona State with Josiah Destin from House of Sparky.
*Editor’s Note: This episode was recorded Tuesday night before St. John’s win over Grand Canyon.
This week on St. John’s B-Ball Breakdown, Anthony Gallo and I looked back at the St. John’s performance against Sacred Heart over the weekend while also looking ahead to the two games that the Red Storm are playing/have played on the west coast this week.
The two of us started by talking about the Sacred Heart win, which St. John’s dominated in the second half (54-21), but they did allow seven three-pointers in the first half. Are there any concerns to take away from that game?
Last Saturday’s game was the first one the team played without guard Marcus LoVett, who is out with a knee injury. Who will have to step up in LoVett’s absence and we examined how Tariq Owens will get more minutes and the impact he has had on the defensive end.
After talking about the Grand Canyon matchup, the focus of the podcast shifted to the matchup with the Arizona State. Anthony and I talked about the significance of this game for St. John’s, the point guard battle between Tra Holder and Shamorie Ponds, and how rebounding could decide who wins this game.
At the end of the podcast, you will find my interview with Josiah Destin, one of the editors at House of Sparky. Josiah broke down the Sun Devils offense that is scoring over 90 points per game, the impact Bobby Hurley has had on the program, and what is the state of the Pac 12 among other topics. Plus, I asked him about Arizona State’s new football coach, Herm Edwards.
Before that interview, there was more talk about the Big East as Villanova continues to dominate in the non-conference, Seton Hall picked up two big wins this past week against Texas Tech and Louisville, and Georgetown is undefeated among other topics.
Finally, we took a look at if the conference decided to expand, which teams would we add to the league? The Big East seems to be in good shape now, but can it be even better?
