New York Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis pays homage to WFAN callers during an appearance with Mike Francesa.

It must be fun to have a job that gives you the opportunity to talk to one of the biggest figures in the New York sports world. Kristaps Porzingis must feel blessed. Averaging 30 points per game is great, but it pales in comparison to an interview with living legend Mike Francesa of WFAN.

I’m surprised that Mike wasn’t triggered by the phrase, “first time, long time.” I was expecting Mike to hear that and immediately start asking Porzingis, “What is your point?!?!” as if he was Joe from Montclair and not one of the best players in the NBA.

Porzingis also told Mike that his ankle and elbow are feeling good and he should be ready to go for tomorrow’s game against the Sacramento Kings. This has been one of the most exciting starts to a Knicks season in recent memory due in large part to the 7-foot-3 big man. Porzingis is showing he’s got the talent, demeanor, and personality for New Yorkers to fully embrace.
