Coming off a nice Original Six win over the Boston Bruins, the New York Rangers look to make it six straight against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.
Last night, the New York Rangers won their fifth straight game of the season against the Boston Bruins, propelling them to an 8-7-2 record, good for fifth place in the Metropolitan Division.
Despite their low standing in the division, the Rangers are only two points out from tying last year’s Stanley Cup Champions, the Pittsburgh Penguins, for first place in the log-jammed Metro Division.
The victory last night came off of two goals much-needed goals by Rangers forward Jimmy Vesey, a stellar performance in goal by net minder Henrik Lundqvist and another fantastic performance by Pavel Buchnevich, a young and immensely talented Russian forward who is earning more and more playing time from head coach Alain Vigneault.
Vigneault believed that the team looked in control.
Henrik Lundqvist seemed to concur with Vigneault, believing that the Rangers “set the tone early in the first period” and had “great energy.”
The Rangers will take on Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers Saturday and Madison Square Garden. While McDavid, who took down the Islanders in overtime on Tuesday, will provide a plethora of issues for the Rangers defense, the remainder of the team seems to be rolling and ready to win its sixth straight game on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. ET.
