New York Cosmos head coach Giovanni Savarese joins Schwartz on Sports as the two-time defending NASL champions look for the three-peat on Sunday in San Francisco.

The original New York Cosmos won five North American Soccer League Championships in 1972, 1977, 1978, 1980 and 1982.

Then, after a 29-year absence, the Cosmos returned to the modern day NASL in 2013 and they picked up where they left off during the glory years winning three more Soccer Bowls including the last two.

This Sunday, the Cosmos look for their third straight title, and fourth in five years since the reboot, when they meet the San Francisco Deltas in this year’s NASL Championship Final at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco. Joining me on this edition of “Schwartz On Sports” is Cosmos Sporting Director and Head Coach Giovanni Savarese who has been responsible for putting this team together since day one of the reboot in 2013.

In the interview, we talk about the matchup with San Francisco, how special these five years have been, as well as the uncertain future of the Cosmos and the NASL.
