New York Rangers prospect Alexei Bereglazov has returned to the KHL after not cracking the big boy roster over a month into the season.

When the Rangers signed Bereglazov last summer they gave Bereglazov the opportunity to go back to the KHL. With Bereglazov still in Hartford a month into the season, the 23-year-old defenseman is heading back to the KHL.

Bereglazov was a coveted free agent over the summer and looked to play a major role in what the Rangers were going to do defensively prior to the signing of Kevin Shattenkirk. With Shattenkirk’s signing, Bereglazov needed to impress in training camp. During training camp, Bereglazov did not grab the eye of head coach Alain Vigneault and was one of the first cuts made by the Rangers.

This season with Hartford, Bereglazov has recorded just four points in 13 games for the Wolf Pack. The Rangers will still retain Bereglazov’s rights as he is under contract until the end of the 2018-2019 season.
