Tyson Chandler came away with a very high opinion of Kristaps Porzingis following their matchup Friday night.

New York Knicks forward Kristaps Porzingis was dominant in his Friday matchup against the Phoenix Suns. He scored 30 points for the sixth time in eight games and the Knicks won big, 120-107. The unicorn’s performance didn’t go unnoticed by Tyson Chandler.

The ex-Knick and former Defensive Player of the Year had high praise for Porzingis following their head-to-head matchup. Chandler, 35, has been around the block so when he drops knowledge like this it means something.

Via Al Iannazzone of Newsday:

“Porzingis is special,” former Knick Tyson Chandler said. “He has a chance to be the best player in this league. Watching him tonight and seeing what he’s done so far this season, he has a real shot of being the best player in this league.”

Chandler played with future Hall of Famers Carmelo Anthony, Dirk Nowitzki, and Jason Kidd. He knows what greatness looks like. When he saw Porzingis score 37 points in 31 minutes, there had to be a part of him that had some Dirk flashbacks.
