The Breeders’ Cup and victory parades are big deals. So is getting married. Rumor is that Justin Verlander and Kate Upton have chosen one of the three.

The Houston Astros, who won the World Series for the first time in their 56-year history, have a victory parade scheduled in downtown Houston at 2 pm local time on Friday. All of the Astros were thought to be attending. But there is growing speculation that Justin Verlander, who the Astros traded for on Aug. 31, will not be there.

Rumor has it that Verlander and his fiancé, supermodel Kate Upton, are headed to Tuscany to get married on Saturday. The news is surprising to some people because not only would Verlander be skipping the parade, but Upton would be missing an event she has been a regular at.

As she has done in recent years, Upton was thought to be attending the Breeders’ Cup. This year it is being held at Del Mar racetrack, north of San Diego at Del Mar on Friday and Saturday.

She is one of 15 celebrity ambassadors for the Breeders Cup. Other ambassadors include celebrity chef Bobby Flay, former Yankees manager Joe Torre, actresses Elizabeth Banks and Bo Derek as well as recently resigned University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino.

Upton first became a Breeders cup ambassador in 2013. She has a love for horses, as she was an accomplished equestrian while growing up and competed on a national level, winning many competitions.

According to the Breeders’ Cup website: “Fifteen celebrity racing fans and owners have been honored as Breeders’ Cup Ambassadors. The honor comes with rewards which allow the Ambassadors to enjoy horse racing all over the world, including concierge service, tickets, and more. Additionally, they will serve as spokespersons for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships and help promote this prestigious international event.”

Because of their busy schedules, it is not mandatory for the ambassadors to attend the Breeders Cup.

Verlander never won a World Series during his 13 seasons with the Detroit Tigers, who struggled to one of the most disappointing seasons in recent franchise history. Odds are that Verlander never thought he’d have a chance to compete for a World Series ring in 2017.

So if both miss these events, their rumored weekend marriage is looking very strong to be true.
