Perhaps the world has the New York Yankees to thank.
Prior to Game 7 of the ALCS, the entire baseball-loving globe understood what a New York-Los Angeles World Series meant. It would bring the two biggest markets in the world together while blending in today’s youth with memories of yesteryear (Bronx, Brooklyn).
After all, nobody wanted to see a Houston Astros-Los Angeles Dodgers World Series.

What these two clubs have brought baseball through the first four games of the 2017 World Series has been remarkable. Then Game 5 happened and although it took more than five hours to complete, it’ll go down as one of the greatest baseball games in the history of the sport.
After trailing 4-0 and 7-4, Alex Bregman sent the Astros to victory with this RBI single off Kenley Jansen in the bottom of the 10th-inning:

If you’re a pitcher, look away. The offense and resiliency of each team are what made this one an instant classic. Each time once club crossed home plate, the other counterpunched harder than Mike Tyson in The Hangover.
These guys did it so well that FOX actually ran out of commercials by the time the top of the 9th-inning rolled around.
Both aces, Dallas Keuchel (3.2 IP) and Clayton Kershaw (4.2 IP), couldn’t get out of the 5th-inning tonight. It was all hitting all the time.
A total of seven home runs were hit in Game 5 and now the total of 22 through five games cements a new World Series record. After falling behind early, Houston led by three in the bottom of the ninth. Not even that lead could be held as Dodgers utility man Chris Taylor knocked in the game-tying run after Yasiel Puig smashed a two-run shot.
With Houston one game away from its first World Series in franchise history, the scene will shift back to the west coast on Tuesday night in Game 6 and then on Wednesday for Game 7, if necessary.
