Kristaps Porzingis had high praise for Frank Ntilikina after the New York Knicks got their first win of the season over the Brooklyn Nets.
The New York Knicks picked up a much-needed win over their rival Brooklyn Nets on Friday night, 107-86, led by Kristaps Porzingis. The unicorn had his third 30-point game in four games but wasn’t interested in talking about himself.
Porzingis wanted to praise his new teammate: rookie point guard Frank Ntilikina. KP spoke to Ian Begley of ESPN after the 19-year-old’s impressive debut; saying that he sees his new teammate putting up triple-doubles in the future.
Triple-doubles are a benchmark for point guards now thanks to the remarkable feat accomplished by Russell Westbrook last season. The reigning MVP averaged a triple-double for the entire season.
That doesn’t make the feat any easier to complete. Just because Westbrook and LeBron James make it look easy doesn’t mean anyone can do it. It would be great to see a Knick pull off that feat.
According to Basketball-Reference.com, Mark Jackson is the only player to record more than one triple-double (7) for the Knicks in the last 30 years. History isn’t on Frank’s side.
