Courtney Lee says the New York Knicks don’t know what the plays they’re running are. That’s kind of a major problem.

The New York Knicks got blown out by the Boston Celtics Tuesday night and are now 0-3 on the season.

Why haven’t the Knicks won a game yet? It might be because they literally don’t know what they are doing. Guard Courtney Lee said as much after the embarrassing defeat.

“We’ve got to pay attention more in practice, make sure we execute more when we’re out there,” he told Ian Begley of ESPN. “There’s plays that we go over in practice, if we’re messing up in practice and we’re messing up in games we got to understand these plays and get in those positions to where we’re executing and being sharp. If we miss shots, we miss shots. That’s part of the game. But not being in the right position takes away a shot for your teammates. We got to learn the plays.”

The team’s big free agent acquisition, Tim Hardaway Jr., echoed Lee’s comments.

“We’re all out there just running like we don’t know what’s going on,’’ Hardaway told Marc Berman of the New York Post. “It can’t happen. It’s frustrating at the same time, but it’s still early in the season. We’ve just got to go to the drawing boards and get back to practice, just go out there knowing what we have to do offensively and defensively.”

So wait a minute, you don’t know the plays and you just run around like you have no clue what’s going on? How can you not know the plays? Did you not learn the plays during training camp? Maybe that’s why the Knicks have been one of the worst teams in the NBA for years. They have no clue what’s going on.

The Knicks had better learn the plays—and fast—before they dig themselves a deep hole in the Eastern Conference that they can’t climb out of.
