During an interview, Carmelo Anthony finally spoke about the treatment he received from Phil Jackson with the New York Knicks.

Carmelo Anthony stayed quiet while Phil Jackson took shots at the ten-time All-Star during their time together with the New York Knicks. Anthony’s not in New York, and he’s far away from Jackson now. He’s not staying quiet anymore.

The Zen Master made it public knowledge that he wanted Anthony on another team. In a recent interview with Marc Stein of The New York Times, Anthony says that Jackson would’ve traded him “for a bag of chips.”

He tells Stein that he spoke to Jackson “maybe twice” face to face last season. If Jackson were more serious about meeting with Melo, maybe they could’ve gotten a deal done. Phil’s relationship with his players will always remain one of the main criticisms.

Anthony also points out how uncomfortable it was to go to practice every day and talk to the media after all the public criticism he was facing. He was “being pushed out” and there was “no support from the organization.”

He tells Stein that he still didn’t want to stick around in New York even after Jackson’s firing in June.

“I think at that point it was too far gone,” Anthony said. “I already had in my mind that I wanted to win, that I wanted to move on. We didn’t think it would take as long as it did, but my mind was already made up.”

Now Melo’s happy with the Oklahoma City Thunder and superstars Russell Westbrook and Paul George. He’s never played on a team with this much talent.

Kristaps Porzingis is taking over the Knicks. He’ll guard Melo when the teams match up on Thursday in the season opener in OKC.
