New York Giants star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. wasted little time after undergoing ankle surgery to let the world know he’ll be back.

Odell Beckham Jr. took to Instagram on Tuesday morning, from his hospital bed, to thank fans for their well-wishes and let them know that he may be down and out this season, but all is not lost.

“Thank u all for your prayers,” he wrote. “You better believe I’ll be back better than ever. God Speed.”

While some may crack jokes about OBJ being under the influence of painkillers or other medication for making such a bold statement and others may not take him seriously while he’s hooked up to machines and tubes, there’s no reason to doubt him. Yes, a fractured ankle is a major injury—serious enough to require surgery to repair.

And yes, it’s likely that his ankle will never be the same as it was. But he’s only 24 years old. His body can—and will—heal and bounce back from such a trauma. So long as he follows the direction of his doctors and puts in the necessary work in physical therapy, there’s no reason why he can’t return to his pre-injury form.

Even if he doesn’t—if OBJ in 2018 is only 80 percent of the OBJ we’ve all come to know—that would still make him one of the best wide receivers in the NFL.

As for his desire to become the highest-paid player in the game, well, that might have to wait for another year.
