The New York Knicks lost their second preseason game to the Wizards despite solid performances from Enes Kanter and Courtney Lee.
The Knicks dropped their preseason opener against the Brooklyn Nets. Playing in front of the Madison Square Garden crowd wasn’t enough for Kristaps Porzingis‘ team to take down their cross-town rival.Without Porzingis or rookie point guard Frank Ntilikina on Friday night, New York didn’t stand a chance against the Washington Wizards. Washington is one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, led by star point guard John Wall.
But two of New York’s primary role players for the upcoming season did their best. Enes Kanter and Courtney Lee were excellent for the Knicks on Friday.
Kanter led the team in scoring with 16 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Lee made four 3-point shots out of six attempts, proving he can still deliver on offense from the small forward spot.
Notes
The suspended Joakim Noah played 12 minutes and looked good on defense. He had two points, five rebounds, and one block.
Tim Hardaway Jr. added 15 points in 28 minutes, and Michael Beasley—starting at power forward—led the team in minutes (30) and posted seven points.
Porzingis was resting for Friday’s game and Ntilikina’s injury appears to be minor. Reports suggest he should be back for Monday’s game against Houston.
