There’s no surprise that two young New York Yankees’ stars finished inside the Top-20 in MLB jersey sales this season.
The Baby Bombers have taken Major League Baseball by storm and the jersey sales from the 2017 regular season certainly show it.
On Tuesday, the league announced that New York Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge had the most popular jersey this season, with teammate Gary Sanchez not too far behind at 15.
This comes as no surprise, as Judge has a season to remember. His 52 home runs marked a single-season Major League rookie record — previously set by Mark McGwire in 1987 — and joined Mickey Mantle (52 in 1956) and Babe Ruth (54 in 1920) as the third Yankee to hit at least 50 home runs at age 25-or-younger.
Judge finished the year hitting .284/.422/.627 with 128 runs, 24
doubles, three triples, 52 home runs, 114 RBI’s and 127 walks in 155 games this season.
As for Gary Sanchez, his 33 home runs marked a new single-season career high for him and most by a Yankees catcher (min. 50 percent of games at catcher) in franchise history.
The pair set a Major League record for homers hit by a pair of teammates at age 25-or-younger passing the previous record set by Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun in 2007.
Judge and Sanchez will also be a part of the 2017 postseason kicking off tonight against the Minnesota Twins. The future is bright, and the jersey sales don’t do their rise enough justice.
