Finally some real basketball for the New York Knicks. They open their preseason schedule Tuesday night against the Brooklyn Nets.

The Kristaps Porzingis era officially started after Carmelo Anthony was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. On Tuesday night, the New York Knicks play their first game with Porzingis as the franchise player.

The Knicks host the rival Brooklyn Nets in their preseason opener at 7:30 p.m. ET on MSG. While the New York Yankees are playing playoff baseball, the Big Apple basketball teams square off in this thrilling exhibition.

Porzingis isn’t the only change to the Knicks. They also added point guard Frank Ntilikina and shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. Frank wasn’t active in the summer league due to a knee injury, so Knicks fans are hoping to get their first glimpse of him on Tuesday.

Enes Kanter and Doug McDermott came over from OKC in the Melo trade. One or both of them could end up in the starting lineup.

It’s not just the Knicks that are going through a massive overhaul in 2017-18. The Nets are finally moving on from Brook Lopez this season. It’s former Laker D’Angelo Russell‘s team now.

Injuries

Ron Baker (ankle) hasn’t been practicing. It’s unlikely he’ll play tonight.

Ntilikina (groin) sat out part of practice on Monday.
