The New York Jets needed to make a move to accommodate the return of Jalin Marshall. So they said goodbye to a familiar name in the Big Apple.
For the first time in his NFL career, Will Tye will have to find an NFL team that doesn’t call MetLife Stadium home after he was waived Tuesday afternoon. Tye will finish his Jets career with four catches for 38 yards.
The move comes as a bit of a surprise. One player needed to be moved with the return of wide receiver Jalin Marshall off the suspended list. The Jets were carrying five tight ends and four of them were “expendable.”
The real question becomes why did Tye get the boot and not Neal Sterling? Sterling may be a better blocker than Tye, but Tye has a better resume and has been more productive in his limited role on the team.
