The New York Giants receive good news on the injury front concerning B.J. Goodson and Olivier Vernon while Odell Beckham Jr. is fined.
What has happened to the New York Giants defense? It’s a question that’s plagued the organization over the last two weeks as they’ve seen their rush defense sink to dead last in the National Football League (153.3 yards allowed per game).
What’s been the difference over the last two weeks? Perhaps it’s been the loss of B.J. Goodson.
Goodson won the starting middle linebacking job and after leading the way against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1, Big Blue’s rush defense has been rough.
Goodson, Shane Vereen and Bobby Hart would have all taken part in Friday’s practice if there was one. All are expected to play.
The questionables are Olivier Vernon, Orleans Darkwa and Brett Jones. All signs are positive for Vernon. Having both Vernon and Goodson in the lineup will be a big momentum builder for the defense.
The biggest question mark comes when speaking the name of Jonathan Casillas. The Giants linebacker is dealing with an ankle/wrist and will most likely be a game-time decision, via Rich Cimini of ESPN New York.
“We had a couple guys if we would have practiced today would’ve been limited in practice,” coach Ben McAdoo said. “Again, we’ll have to take a look at guys [Saturday] and see how they get through practice.”
For his actions of walking and desecrating like a dog in Philadelphia, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was fined $12,154 by the league.
John Mara was reportedly upset over the move and OBJ had very little concern about it, as per his comments after the game.
“I’m a dog, so I acted like a dog,” Beckham told reporters after the game. “I don’t know if the rulebook said you can’t hike your leg. He said I peed on somebody, so I was trying to find the imaginary ghost that I peed on. But I didn’t see him.”
Rookie Evan Engram was also fined $12,154 for grabbing his crotch after catching his first touchdown the week prior.
