It looks like Dwyane Wade will reunite with LeBron James as he plans on signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers after he clears waivers.

Dwayne Wade is expected to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers after he clears waivers on Wednesday.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Wade will sign a one-year, $2.3 million veteran’s minimum contract as a free agent. He agreed to a buyout of his contract with the Chicago Bulls on Sunday. The Miami Heat, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the San Antonio Spurs were the other teams that he had considered signing with. Wade hasn’t ruled out a return to the Heat, where he won two championships with LeBron James, in the future.

“I just felt it was time for me, turning 36, that I want to be competing for a championship,” the 12-time NBA All-Star told K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune of his buyout. “What it’s about for me is looking at the right role. I feel I can still play.”

Wade will join a Cavaliers team that will be without Isaiah Thomas until at least January due to a hip injury. Last year with the Bulls, Wade averaged 18 points per game. He has averaged 23.3 points, 5.7 assists, and 4.8 rebounds in his career.

We’ll have to wait and see if Wade and James can win a third championship together, this time in Cleveland.
