With training camp looming, New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony has given his team two additional opportunities to get him out of the Big Apple.

The past few years have been far from memorable for the 10-time All-Star, who has seen nothing but disrespect from New York’s seemingly loyal fans.

Thanks to his updated list of teams in which he would waive his no-trade clause, the New York Knicks may finally get rid of Carmelo Anthony before Monday.

According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, the Knicks have reached out to the Cavaliers about a potential trade, but no further details have been released as to whether or not they are nearing a deal.

For Cleveland, the addition of Carmelo Anthony gives them another stud small forward to play with LeBron James and the recently acquired Jae Crowder.

If one thing is for sure, it is that the Cavaliers can give Golden State a run for their money if they can bring Melo to the ‘Land.

In addition to Cleveland, USA Today‘s Sam Amick reported that the Oklahoma City Thunder were the other team included in Anthony’s updated list.

Through joining the Thunder, Anthony and recent trade acquisition Paul George would more than fill the void Kevin Durant left in July of 2016 when he joined Golden State.

A trio of Russell Westbrook, George, and Anthony, and an opportunity for big man Steven Adams to focus solely on defense would elevate Oklahoma City to contenders in the West, and even have enough firepower to dethrone a seemingly unstoppable Golden State roster.

Like Cleveland, the Thunder would instantly be labeled as one of the NBA’s strongest teams with the addition of Melo.

It is obvious that the NBA’s best players are small forwards: James, Durant, Kawhi Leonard, George, and Anthony are just a few. The idea of James or George having Anthony to play with is mindblowing and would give their respective teams endless opportunities to shut down opposing offenses and dominate any defense.

Being the No. 1 option in New York comes with a ton of pressure. For the most part, Melo has lived up to his name on offense. Plug him into a system where he can be the second or third scoring option and we could suddenly see a resurgent Anthony.

Wherever he goes, his impact will be astronomical. The doubters will be proven wrong, and Melo will get the last laugh, just wait.
