According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Carmelo Anthony has given the Knicks a longer list of teams to which he’d accept a trade.
Since the beginning of the Carmelo Anthony saga, the ten-time All-Star has remained steadfast in his commitment to a trade to the Houston Rockets. With media day looming on Monday for the Knicks, it sounds like Anthony is blinking first.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the ten-time All-Star has expanded the list of teams to which he’d accept a trade. Specifically, Anthony would accept a deal to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Anthony was rumored as a target of the Cavs during the season, but then-general manager David Griffin wasn’t willing to part with the younger Kevin Love.
Griffin’s not in charge anymore in Cleveland (and neither is Phil Jackson in New York); so with two new minds handling the negotiations, this deal could get done.
The opportunity to play with his close friend LeBron James in Cleveland will be intriguing to Anthony, but that was part of what was so tempting about Houston. His friendship with point guard Chris Paul would’ve made for an easy transition.
As for the other teams on the list, all we can do is speculate for now.
