According to Jason La Conforta of CBS Sports, both the team and Beckham are open to doing an extension in the middle of the season. Beckham, who has been sidelined by an ankle injury, is hoping to return to action soon.
Beckham has stated his desire to become the highest paid player in the league. While that may not be likely to happen given how much money quarterbacks make, it is likely that Beckham will become the highest paid wide receiver in the league.
Owner John Mara has said he wants Beckham to be a Giant for life, and there has been no indication that Beckham wants to leave, so it’s highly likely that a deal gets done at some point.
The sides have two years to get a deal done, but it appears that both team and player want to sign a contract sooner rather than later.
