The New York Giants are claiming there’s a “good chance” start wideout Odell Beckham Jr. plays on Monday Night Football.
There seems to be a good chance of New York Giants superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. playing against the Detroit Lions on Monday night. The team cautioned it’s still up in the air but they seem confident.
According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, Beckham initial was told he would miss six to eight weeks, so a return Monday night would be earlier than initially anticipated.
The Giants offense was really, really bad without Beckham in a week one loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Receivers couldn’t get open, and the Cowboys didn’t need to game plan around anybody nearly as dynamic as Beckham.
Beckham gives Eli Manning an extremely talented pass-catching target who can get open quickly off the line of scrimmage. He also takes coverage off other wide receivers, allowing them to get open, and his presence makes it far more difficult for opposing defenses to blitz.
The offensive line was bad, and the running game was awful, but having Beckham back will make the Giants offense significantly better than it was last week.
