There’s still a chance for the New York Yankees to take the division but they will need some reinforcements, which are on the way.

Clint Frazier, who has been on the disabled list with a left oblique strain since August 10, began his rehab assignment with the New York Yankees Double-A affiliate, the Trenton Thunder.

Staring on Wednesday night by going 0-3 with three strikeouts,  he continued his assignment Thursday night as the designated hitter and went 1-for-5 with a sacrifice fly and a run scored in the 9-6 win.

Frazier will soon come back to help an already potent Yankees offense. In 28 games this season, Frazier has hit .243 with four home runs and 17 RBI.

Meanwhile, on the same field, Yankees prospect Thairo Estrada had himself quite the night. He went 4-for-5 and hit for the cycle, capping off the night with a booming double in the ninth inning.

The Home Run Party Continues:

In Thursday’s 9-1 blowout win in Baltimore, the Yankees hit four home runs against the Orioles. Chase Headley’s fourth inning blast, the second one for the team that afternoon, marked no. 200 for the Yankees on the season. This mark comes after a 2016 season where the team only hit 183 total home runs.

After home runs later in the game from Starlin Castro and Todd Frazier, the Yankees bumped up their season total to 202. This is good for fourth in all of MLB.

Remembering Stick:

On Thursday morning, the Yankees tragically lost a long respected member of their family. At the age of 79, Gene “Stick” Michael passed away. Michael had served as a player, manager, vice president and general manager for the Yankees.

Upon his passing, the Yankees announced that for the remainder of the 2017 season they will sport black armbands on the left sleeve of the uniform in Michael’s honor.

After a big series win, it’s onto Texas to keep making up ground in the standings. Keep tuned to ESNY for the latest Yankees news.
