Today’s New York Yankees’ Bomber Buzz highlights Gleyber Torres‘ road to recovery and a pair of new injuries.

The New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles were rained out on Wednesday night but there is still plenty of news to keep up with — especially regarding injuries.

Gleyber Torres, the organization’s top prospect by MLB Pipeline, suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament back in June on his non-throwing elbow after a collision with a catcher during his stint in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

While he won’t be expected to participate in live-competition until Spring Training, his quick recovery (thus far) should make fans optimistic about seeing his Bronx debut at some point in 2018.

Now, onto the not-so-good-news.

New York announced on Wednesday that they have placed reliever Adam Warren on the 10-day disabled list (retroactive to September 3) with a lower back spasm. The spasms first started on Sunday but since they haven’t subsided, the team decided to put him on the shelf for two weeks.

Warren has been a reliable middle-innings guy for the Yankees this season by posting a 2.40 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 56.1 innings.

According to George A. King III of the New York Post, CC Sabathia received a lubrication injection Wednesday afternoon in his right knee. The 37-year-old added that “it’s a dull pain” unlike the pain that put him on the disabled list on Aug. 11.

Sabathia surrendered five runs on eight hits in 5.1 innings of work against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night at Camden Yards. Sabathia walked one and struck out three, but also allowed three home runs.

Since August 19, the left-hander has gone 2-0 with a 3.33 ERA while being a staple in the Yankees’ rotation during the pennant race. Hopefully, New York can get him through the regular season and into the postseason healthy and ready to go.
